For the second year in a row we weren't able to visit our usual Christmas tree farm. Like last year their cut-your-own areas were picked over early. As much as we love that farm and could have gone there for the pre-cut trees, we love our tradition of cutting our own even more. The farm we went to last year was okay. It was a no-frills find your tree and cut deal. We wanted more of the adventure, walk through the woods, spend an afternoon at the farm while sipping hot cocoa atmosphere. If we were to make the drive we wanted a little bit more out of the trip. Through various suggestions from friends we narrowed it to a place on a scenic route. I'm always trying to find an excuse to drive in that direction so this was my chance. We went on a day that was sunny and warm. Oh, and muddy! This tree farm was a lot bigger than our usual which also meant a bigger selection. It was fun traipsing through such a gorgeous landscape, breathing in the fresh air and hunting for the right tree. I didn't even mind that there was no snow on the ground or that there was no Winter nip in the air.
I'm still hoping that we can go back to our old haunt next year. Otherwise we are happy to come back to this farm again. Do you cut your own Christmas tree?
As usual, pictures to share (mostly taken by my daughter)
