It seems as if Spring is finally making it to Central Ohio shortly after we celebrated the feast of St. Patrick. My husband's family is of Irish descent so this feast day is a big deal over here. We made it to the parade downtown per usual. It was a bit chilly but the birds were singing and the hint of Spring is undeniable. There weren't too many spectators compared to years past. This meant less competition for parade candy ;-)
Today the weather was still nippy but the sun is out and the days are longer and baseball practices have begun. I will stay in complete denial that in a couple of weeks I will be cursing this brutal season for the little allergy sufferers in our home. For today I will breathe in the fresh air, bask in the overwhelming supply of free vitamin D and risk some Spring joy in the middle of Lent.
Here are some photos to share:
the girl made shamrock pancakes for breakfast using a shamrock cookie cutter |
all decked out in green, she even made green crystal earrings to match and the natural red streaks on her hair is definitely from the Irish side of the family, the green streak is store-bought ;-) |

the six-year-old won't be outdone |
and neither would the middle child |
