Blah Day

Today was testing day for my oldest two.  This meant early dismissal so we made plans to go to the pumpkin patch.  The weather was suspect with a sprinkling in the morning and cloud cover for most of the day.  We could not make up my mind about going, it wasn't just the cloudy skies that worried us but the mud that is sure going to be at the patch.  Since this is the only weekday we had free that we can all go we were struggling with what to do.  When I picked up the girl from school we were able to make a decision.  She has been sick for almost a week and she was still hacking and coughing so the pumpkin patch was definitely out.  We opted to go to the conservatory instead.  They had pumpkins there too so it was a good alternative. None of it was for sale, just for display and it was really quite the sight to behold amid the mums and other plants. We couldn't linger as the girl was just so ready to go home and get to bed.  Not sure how she will be in the morning,  so please keep her in your prayers.  She hasn't been this sick in a long time.

Here are the pictures of today's outing and then I am off to hit the hay myself! And when you are done here go visit my friends who are keeping me company this month - Autumn, Nicole, Barb,  and Christine

  1. I'm sorry she's so sick. Faith had it withing two weeks of starting school. And the worst part is -- if they miss a day they fall so behind, so they go sick and pretty soon most of the school has it or has had it. I hate it!

    1. And I had to pick-up M two hours after school started this morning. He is freaking out since the quarter ends tomorrow and he has a few more quizzes/tests to finish between today and tomorrow. Praying he is well enough tomorrow.

    2. They will let him make up work missed during sickness, but I believe he has to turn it in the day he returns (which makes so much sense when you're home sick!).

    3. Prior to brick and mortar schooling I have always wondered how those kids keep up with the school work especially when their sickness is prolonged. I think that's part of the reason why the illnesses get passed around, kids come back to school not having fully healed and passing it around to everyone else. I know in G's case this week she wasn't well enough to come back to school but she couldn't miss testing day.

  2. I hope everyone is feeling better today! Quizes and tests are no fun, but especially when you are sick! Plus the stress of the end of a quarter. Yuck.

I need to get to the conservatory. I have never been!

    1. You need to go!!! We usually go when there's a new exhibit/display. Looking forward to the Christmas stuff (pointsettias and gingerbread houses). They give homeschoolers a discount on membership.

  3. The pictures are so pretty! So fun. We went to a local farm yesterday, and it wasn't as much fun with a blaring sun and too-warm-temperature for October.
