Confirmation was beautiful! I can sing a million praises about the CCD program in our parish but I am very partial to the Confirmation class. They have the distinct advantage of being taught by Sisters, Friars, philosophy professors, theologians and apologist(s). I would love to sign up for the class myself!
It is standard that the last CCD lesson prior to Confirmation is taught by one of the Friars. This is when they get prepared for the questions that the Bishop might ask. You can imagine the (joyfully) stunned countenance of His Excellency when the class answered the question "who are the first 25 popes?" Unbeknownst to him, 25 kids were each assigned a pope, just in case. The Baking Girl was assigned pope number 14. I thank the Lord everyday for this parish.
It's always fun to have my family in town. This year it was a small contingency, just my sister and my niece who is the Confirmation sponsor. Their visit was short but we packed as much fun as can be had. We shopped til we dropped, hiked, made s'mores, played video games and caught the last showing of Cinderella which ended promptly at midnight. They flew back to Texas this morning as I "mourn" my cancelled trip to the old country. Short story is that my brother and sister will be going home to the Philippines without me this weekend because I have yet to receive my green card renewal. I am still a Canadian citizen and without my new green card travel out of the US isn't a very good idea. I will not even go on about the cost of renewing a green card and/or the price of a US citizenship. It is a cause worthy of a crowd-funding account.
I refuse to end this blog post on an unhappy note so without further ado, pictures to share:

ReplyDeleteWe wished you were here! Plan for next year's First Communion.
DeleteOh, beautiful! God bless your daughter. You need to copy down the confirmation curriculum so those of us with less awesome programs can add to it at home. :) As a convert, I often feel quite like I'm fumbling around in the dark when teaching the kids with certain topics.
ReplyDeleteNicole, their text this year is the YouCat, nothing too impressive but in the hands of Sisters, friars, theologians and philosophers it has been wonderful.
