Insanity - The Day After

I'm happy to report that the thyroid meds and various other supplements seemed to have finally caught up with me.  To celebrate this happy occasion I am punishing challenging my body with another Beach Body fitness program, Insanity, which appropriately describes of my current mental state LOL.

Regular skimmers of this blog know about my forays into P90x and the somewhat benign Rockin' Body which was my cardio-filler. I shouldn't say benign because Rockin' Body actually kicked my behind while recovering from hypothyroidism. With a fitness allowance courtesy of the hubby's job we were able to get Insanity for "free".  I'm sure we paid into it somehow but not having to fork out the dough from the household budget is an acceptable illusion of free.

My  plan was to give myself two extra weeks of an all-cardio workout (p90x-rockin' body cardio hybrid) as preparation. But there was something about previewing workout videos from a soft, comfy couch that made me think I, too, can do that! Ditching my two-week waiting period, I went ahead and did the 25 minute fit test.  It was alright, I did alright, it was certainly challenging but not impossible.

And then...the first day came along...I have to admit dreading the actual start date because 1) it was going to be longer than 25 minutes 2) what if I hated it?!  3) what if I die or injure myself!!! 4) my husband will not allow me to quit!!!  Well some of those fears are just a little bit dramatic LOL.  It was longer than 25 minutes, yes, but I didn't hate it (maybe just a little), I didn't die nor injure myself and yes, the husband will not let me quit which is okay because he can't quit either.

It was hard, no, it was brutal.  Other than the Grouse Grind,  this is probably the most I've pushed myself fitness-wise.  I'm a little bit sore today but surprisingly not as sore as I thought I would be.  This will probably change shortly, it's only been a day after all.  I will bore you with all the details in a couple of weeks.  Stay tuned!
