A Feast Day Birthday

I woke up today with a few more gray hairs on my head.  Our middle child turned nine on this beautiful feast of St. Blaise. The girl has been so busy since yesterday planning the festivities.  She has officially taken over the role of party-maker in our home.  She baked the cake last night and when I got home from morning Mass a batch of cookies were on the table with the rest of the breakfast surprise in the works.  I told her I am sending her straight to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris for culinary school. Anyhow, the birthday boy was forbidden to get out of bed until everything was ready.  He was so very happy at the breakfast surprise.  Festivities continue this evening while I thank God for the blessing of children and the gifts they bring to our lives.  Happy Birthday to my sweet and smart boy, truly a delight to a mother's heart.

baked bacon, yum!
I could smell this from a mile away. I ran to get home faster!
don't you wish you lived with us? LOL
what is bacon without eggs? the girl is tireless in the kitchen
and of course she had to make a special birthday card, in the meantime the birthday child is itching to be let out of his bedroom
breakfast in bed served by the older siblings, my kids are amazing human beings
blowing out the candles
how apropos that his spelling words today included "birthday"!
I hope you all had a good feast day. St. Blaise, pray for us!
