Every Advent I get into this almost frantic indecision about what to do with the Advent wreath. My indecision is precisely because of too many choices and ideas of the "perfect" wreath. Should it be live greenery, should it be fake, should I use taper candles, should it be pillar, should I pilfer pine cuttings from the neighbors yard or the empty lot behind me with it's abundance of ivy? You know, First World Advent wreath problems. This year is no different. The only difference is I was so undecided I didn't have the wreath ready in time for December 1st. Ugh, right? lol
Anyway, I think this year, a few days late as I might have been I think I've got it just right. Joann's had the wreath on sale last week then Hobby Lobby had the perfect candle so I didn't have to commit any greenery thievery in my neighborhood or wrestle over pillar or taper. I love when everything works out.
The Advent wreath saga in pictures:

2011 - live ivy wreath that had to be changed every few days, no plant was killed in the making of this wreath |
 |
2012 - I went back to using taper candles, only because I had an extra set from a couple of years ago that I didn't want to waste. I am not going back to this, it doesn't last us the whole season. |

2013- I was so happy to find these candles at Hobby Lobby at 50% off, I think my yearly Advent wreath problem is solved.

Happy First Week of Advent!
"First World Advent wreath problems" - haha! No kidding!
ReplyDeleteI like them all but the one for this year is my favorite. I've never been able to find cool purple candles at Hobby Lobby. I didn't even look this year though.
We get the tapers from Hobby Lobby but I was so happy to find these new pillars this year. I need to go back and get more for next year.
