The Lazy Summer (School)

These past couple of months seemed to have gone in a hazy flash.  Having recovered from Spring allergies and respiratory ailments after that, I am finally beginning to feel alive again.  I think nothing says "welcome back to reality" better than a broken washing machine (again) LOL.  But we will not dwell on that, I do not dwell on fixable (or replaceable things) although I am dwelling a little bit on the cost of braces for the oldest child ;-)

I didn't enjoy Spring because I don't remember most of it (thank you, Benadryl!).  Save for my family visiting and the Confirmation of the oldest child, I have no recollection of the rest of it.  So I am making up for lost time by enjoying this Summer.  By enjoying I mean being lazy.  Other than a couple of camps (baseball, Bible camp) we intentionally did not commit to anything, I made a promise to the husband.  I will miss Summer baseball but I will not miss sitting out in the heat.

The one other thing we're doing differently this Summer is we have school!  It's nothing too involved, we're only doing Math and English (everyday) for mastery and Greek once a week.  It's enough to add structure to our mornings. I am a creature of structure so it's really for my sanity ;-)  There have been no complaints so far as the reward is the almighty screen-time.  Speaking of screen time, we usually have movie afternoons before friends come knocking at the door.  We are very fortunate to live in a neighborhood with lots of children.  We know it's officially Summer when the constant knocking on our door from friends who want to play begins.

The only thing I will not like about this Summer is getting back to exercising.  The last time the exercise video got played was before Holy Week.  The allergy-medicine induced lethargy contributed to my idleness and now I've ran out of excuses.  The first thing that reminds me it's time to exercise is that searing pain from what I surmise is my sciatic nerve.  The other thing is when the clothes feel tighter again.  So it's both physical pain and vanity that gets me out of the couch even on a hot day when I'd rather not be moving!  From Benadryl to Ibuprofen, my body goes LOL

I hope you are all having a peaceful, quiet Summer.  Keep cool out there.

As usual, pictures to share -
