Good To Me

" Your majesty is praised above the heavens; on the lips of children and of babes you have found praise to foil your enemy, to silence the foe and the rebel."  Psalm 8:2

The above Scripture verse is one of my favorites.  Praise is my favorite form of prayer, I praise through it all - the good, the bad, the ugly, the messy things in life.  Silencing the foe with it's company of despair and self-pity, through praise,  allows me to truly see with the eyes of faith, to see grace ever present.  When eloquent prayer words fail me and all the form prayers have been said I resort to singing.

This year a particular song by Audrey Assad was on continuous loop in my house, the kids call it "mom's song".  The melody is beautiful, the voice is beautiful, the words are beautiful.  And I can't stop singing it!

Tomorrow I will write about another favorite, Kyrie, not the one by Mister Mister! It is a study in contrast between Palestrina and David Crowder.  And they both make me cry.  More tomorrow.

What is your song of praise?

Good To Me
Audrey Assad

I put all my hope in the truth of Your promise
And I steady my heart on the ground of Your goodness
When I'm bowed down with sorrow I will lift up Your name
And the foxes in the vineyard will not steal my joy

Because You are good to me, good to me

I lift up my eyes to the hills where my help is found
Your voice fills the night - raise my head up to hear the sound
Though fires burn all around me I will praise You, my God
And the foxes in the vineyard will not steal my joy

Because You are good to me, good to me

Your goodness and mercy shall follow me
All my life
I will trust in Your promise
