The Baking Girl harvested the last of the carrots. She also planted lettuce, spinach (the critters got to it before her) and pumpkins. The pumpkins flowered abundantly but did not produce fruit (no bees!). We could have aided in the pollinating process it but it was too late in the season. She's already making plans for next year. Growing and harvesting plants is such a great lesson for children on the value of perseverance (just keep weeding!) and patience, amongst other virtues. It is also a treat for them to see the fruit of their hard work being put to good use. On the next edition of The Baking Girl series she will be using these carrots to make a cake. Stay tuned!
