I underestimated week two. I just assumed, as easy as the first week was, that this would be another cake walk. Surprise, surprise, I had to lift lighter weights all week. My arms were complaining through the whole kit and caboodle. I had my oldest on standby to spot me just in case. By the time push-ups had to be done I was begging for mercy (and it was only a 30 minute workout!). Unlike P90x where all the push-ups are at the beginning, this one had weight lifting first then the push-ups at the end. It was not pretty. I also took advantage of the modifications during the HIIT portion. Week two was a beast.
I love weight lifting. I love feeling strong. I find, at least in my case, that I get leaner faster when lifting versus all the cardio. My first foray into weight lifting was at age nineteen when I gained a considerable amount of weight. Back then I think the heaviest weight I lifted was five pounds. But a combination of consistency and a fast metabolism that came with youth, the weight came off quickly. I am no longer young so I have to work harder, lift heavier, and watch my portions. Still working on the consistency part. Depending on the exercise, I lift between five to twelve pounds. I bought fifteen pound dumbbells awhile back that is currently gathering dust. Too chicken to use it hahaha.
What's your favorite workout?

Haha, yes, why can't losing be as fun as gaining. :) Short spurts of band exercises + walking is my current exercise. I want to do more, but my body says no so small, short bursts. Slowly, slowly improving!
ReplyDeleteI am trying the slow is more approach. With thyroid issues against me (and you!), it's not as easy to shed the pounds!
DeleteNo, it's not. My levels are finally in a good range so with big diet efforts, I'm actually losing more than five pounds. I hope to have more on that in a post near the end of October.
