For today we decided on a free write about "My Ideal Fall Day". The middle child chose this well-loved topic in our home. Truth be told, I expected the usual stuff - hot chocolate, apple picking, pumpkin patch, pumpkin spice latte (okay not really, we are not lovers of anything pumpkin spice over here). So imagine my surprise when said middle child read aloud what he wrote. As a reward for the happiness he brought me today I told him he can be my guest blogger. Here is what he wrote, unedited, because sometimes that is the best kind.
I wake up to a beautiful sunrise of yellow and orange, matching the colors of the trees. I grab my light jacket and run outside to get my rake to start raking leaves. Raking leaves is one of my favorite activities of the fall because it is very relaxing and I'm left alone with my thoughts and imagination. After a short while of raking, my friends come over to my house from down the street to help me rake. We divide the yard into sections for each person to rake so we can finish faster. Once we finish, we jump into the pile one by one for hours. When I hit the pile, the sound and the feeling of the leaves makes the experience much better. The crunchy sound of the leaves below my shoes along with the crispy feel of the leaves in my hair. When the day full of fun and games is over, my friends leave me to the sunset that is as beautiful as the fall season.
I hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did.
