"Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day" - 2 Corinthians 16
Today's Write31Days writing prompt is a life-changing event. Most of us who have lived long enough on this planet can claim to have multiple life-changing events. For myself, I know I can fill a whole book of moments that have changed me. Moving from the Philippines to Canada, moving to the US from Canada, getting married, having kids, losing a child, these are just some of the major events that altered my life.
I tend to be resistant to change (translation: I'm stubborn) so some life events were hard for me to accept. I was resistant to the idea of moving to Canada, I was already in my twenties with a fairly happy life. I wasn't resistant about moving to the States, I was, after all, moving for love! I was definitely not resistant to having babies. But losing that child, that was a life-changing moment which had nothing to do with resistance or acquiescence. That was a moment of pure surrender.
In the life of faith I can claim that on a daily basis my life is being changed by the Sacraments. There are days I feel like I am making progress and there are days when the knowledge of concupiscence takes over and I see myself for who I really am. That's when I also really see who God is - merciful, faithful, slow to anger, rich in compassion. I always joke that the Lord has forgiven me more than seventy times seven!
On a more practical level what's changing my life are running, Simple face wash (thanks Ivannah for the tip), and the new Old Navy Stevie ponte knit pants (believe the hype!) Oh and Panera French toast bagel! (dare I say it? it's better than cinnamon crunch!)
What about you, what are your life-changing moments?
As usual when you are done here go visit these fabulous friends of mine. They are writing me this month - Nicole, Barb, and Christine
You're welcome! 😊
ReplyDeleteLove it. So much better for my face than L'occitane. Now looking forward to trying that mascara (L'oreal?)
DeleteLove the Bible quote and your post. That one I definitely need to print and put somewhere visible.
ReplyDeleteA bagel sounds good on this rainy day. Even if I could eat at Panera, I would have to drive too far for it. :)
There is a Bible verse for everything!!! I love hunting them down.
DeleteFood allergies are the worst. My oldest does not love going to Panera, too many yummy looking things he cannot have!
